Ciro MacCord

Born in 1987 in Brazil, lives and works in Diamantina (Brazil)

Ciro MacCord’s oil paintings explore the body where it’s not: where it doesn’t coincide with itself. Drawing from psychoanalysis, ’80s body horror, and the fundamental errancy of generative imagery, his canvases invoke chimeric and replicant figures through which flesh — cut, marked, sutured — becomes the site of a split between desire and violence. Though he began painting in oils in 2023, MacCord has long worked in visual language through graphic design, photography, and video, which echo through his compositions and colors.
